Refinerie fire released hydrocarbons in the air

Martinez-a massive fire, which broke out in a refinery last month, published more than 7,000 gallons into the air and treated them medically for six employees. According to the 30-day report that the company sent to Contra Costa Health Services officials.

The Martinez Raffining Company published the report on Tuesday on social media. They said they had presented it to the district officials on February 28th.

The report states that the six refinery workers were evaluated and released by the medical staff. None of them went to a hospital.

In the report, the refinery announced that in the fire of February 1, 170 Barrel – 7,140 gallons – hydrocarbons were released. An explosion and a fire were reported to the refinery around 1:30 p.m. when two workers prepared for a planned maintenance on a process unit.

The flame had the Bay Area gas prices increase immediately one after the other.

The company reported that the hydrocarbons released were light cat, the naphtha, light cat were cracked distillates; Intermediate cat tore distillates; Light thermally cracked naphtha; and isobut-rich C3-C4.

According to the National Cancer Institute, exposure to hydrocarbons can increase the risk of certain types of cancer.

The MRC wrote that its best estimate of 30 combined barrels (1,260 gallons) of the light thermal crack Naphtha and the isobutaneous C3-C4 showed; 20 combined barrels (840 gallons) of the light cat cracked naphtha and light cat teared distillates; and 120 barrels (5,040 gallons) of the middle cat cracks were released.

The company also said that Diethanolamin was probably released because of a noise pipe caused by the fire. According to the US Food and Drug Administration, this chemical is used in cosmetics, cleaning agents and pharmaceuticals.

The flare -up that was needed for security personnel to react to the unplanned shutdown of the refinery also led to more than £ 500 being published, according to the company.

The refinery said that the operating units were still closed and still evaluate the damage from the fire. They had no estimate when the operating units would open again.

The report follows the first 72-hour report that the company issued immediately after the fire. The MRC belongs to PBF Energy, Inc.
