Wyoming Fire Department hires Ems -sought -after to meet personnel lack

There is a lack of firefighters in Minnesota and a city outside the U -Bahn becomes creative to increase the staff.

The Wyoming Fire Department classified some of its fire fighting positions in an EMS Responder.

“I think we have to be creative,” said Neil Bauer, director of Wyoming's public security.

The new EMS responder position will only deal with medical calls and no fires.

“It's very different from a burning building,” said Bauer.

City officials hope that the new positions within the fire brigade will help to fulfill a lack of staff.

“We could receive one or two applications a month, that would be a really good month,” said Bauer.

80% of the demands for the Wyoming fire brigade are medically based.
