Double murder examination: Buffalo Police provides information

The victims were identified as Michael Harmon and Jordan Celotto.

Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Police and the incumbent mayor Chris Scanlon held a briefing on Wednesday to receive further information about a double murder that took place on St. Louis Place on Tuesday.

The victims were identified as residents of Allentown Michael Harmon and Jordan Celotto. While both victims were part of the LGBTQ+ community, Scanlon said at that time that there was no indication that this was a hate crime.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the police said that officials were sent for a person with a knife call to 5 Saint Louis Place. On arrival, the officers found a man with a knife. The police said the man dropped the knife, but only after he had cut himself. The officials asked for an ambulance and transported the person to the Erie County Medical Center, where he still remains and is under the supervision of the Buffalo Police Department.

“In a subsequent search of the house, the officials found two deceased victims. The office of the medical examiner found the cause of death as a blunt force trauma. Obviously, this examination is continued by the Buffalo Police Mord Mord Squad, but at this point there is no information at this time in the investigation that it was a hate crime. Oberdorf said during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

“I would like to express my deepest and heartfelt condolences to my families, their friends, their loved ones and the community in this unimaginable time,” said Scanlon. “I want you to know that we share the grief of those you knew and of those you appreciated. And I know that there are no words that we can say who can take away your heartache, but only want you and the entire Buffalo community for everything you need are here.”

The Buffalo Police Department, the public prosecutor and other city partners will continue to examine, and 2 on your side will continue to provide updates as soon as you are available.
