Rory Mcilroy shares the schedule for the masters, but there is a catch

While the PGA Tour calendar heats up in front of the first major of the year in April in April, the elephant is in the Rory Mcilroy area near Augusta National Rests.

The Northern Irishman still pursues this difficult -to -grapping Masters title to complete the Career Grand Slam after winning the PGA Championship (2014, 2014), the US Open (2011) and the Open Championship (2014).

The good news is that Mcilroy has a very good start in 2025. He will play in his second event in Arnold Palmer Invitational since he won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in early February.

After the Signature event in Bay Hill and the Players Championship, Mcilroy is not sure how to prepare for the first major of the season.

“I'm still making a little decision,” said Mcilroy on Thursday before his first round in Bay Hill. “I will play this next two week, I'll see how these next two weeks will go, then I will somehow be re -evaluated. I like the idea of going to the masters three weeks freely, so I can add an event, but I'm still between the event that could be.

“But it really only depends on how these two weeks run and how I feel for my game. But I would imagine that I would add an event that lead there. It only depends on whether it is Houston or San Antonio.”

McIlroy played in Houston four times, but has not performed since a T-7 degree in 2014. He played three times in San Antonio in San Antonio, most recently in 2024, where he took third place.

His comments make sure that he will not be on the field at the Valspar Championship. This is the first tournament that took place on the players on the Copperhead Golf Course in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Regardless of this, Mcilroy will try to find the right groove when he is looking for his first green jacket.

The Masters was a House of Horrors for the four-time Major Champion, including his final 80 round in 2011, which in the last four iterations are out of dispute and two missed cuts.

No matter where he decides for Augusta National, he hopes that he can get into the circle of the winner for the first time. This would not only complete the career grand Slam, but also its eleven-year-old drought, who wins a big title.
