Video shows fire damage damage mizzou arena suite

Columbia, Mo. (KMIZ)

According to a report by the Columbia Fire Department, a Mizzou Arena Suite worth around 6,000 US dollars for a Mizzou Arena suite has placed too close to flammable material.

The firefighter's report says that the investigators found the charred Sterno can in the corner of a suite after the men's basketball game against the University of Alabama on February 19. The report states that the marshal saw a burned roll of paper towels and a burned bag with hot dog rolls nearby.

“The fire was caused by placing a Sterno socket while still producing warmth near combustible objects on the outside, which lit the objects,” wrote the fire marshal Steven Riggs in his report.

Images received by ABC 17 messages show the charred wall of the suite. Water damage can be seen in the ceiling tiles to watch the sprinkler head. A 4-second video clip from the university of an open records request shows that the fire in the suite rages from the empty stands with a handful of people.

Firefighters received the call at 11:20 p.m. because of the fire in Suite 12 of the Mizzou Arena. Captain Josh Card wrote that he and another firefighter had found a “smoke haze” in the building while entering, and found that the fire had already been published. The reports say that Mu employees had sprayed fire extinguishers. The Suite's sprinkler system also flowed when firefighters arrived there.

According to Riggs, the University of Missouri told him that the sprinkler system had been eliminated before the fire. An employee was told that he should switch off the pump because he feared that the pipes would freeze due to extremely cold weather, “says the Marshal report.

Firefighters also reported some difficulties to communicate through their radio equipment. John Metz wrote that the strong communication traffic in the shipping line and “the type” building made radio use difficult. The department used a device to pass on the traffic from the inside of command units outside.

Dave Matter, spokesman for Mu athletics, said the suite was quickly tidy up and used by the next men's home game.
