Prime Video tests AI supported synchronization of films and series in English and Spanish

Amazon's Prime video launched a pilot program that uses AI tools to dubn selected films and series in English and Latin America.

The initiative, which was introduced on Wednesday, is to make the “huge streaming library of streaming service accessible to even more customers”, the company wrote in a blog post.

The AI-supported synchronous case is used for licensed films and series that would otherwise not have been referred to. The 12 licensed films and series are tested, including titles such as El Cid: La Leyenda, Mi Mamá LoraPresent And Long.

“In Prime Video, we believe in improving the experience of customers with practical and useful AI innovations,” said RAF Soltanovich, VP of Technology at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios. “Ai-side synchronization is only available on titles that have no synchronization, and we strive to explore a new way to make series and films more accessible and pleasant.”

With the streaming boom, which was recently made in an international territory and then accepted by spectators elsewhere (the ultimate example is Netflix's Netflix Squid game) The interest in synchronization and subtitles has grown considerably. Netflix reported last year that more than 40% of the view of the Korean non -written series were referred to.

The Prime Video announcement did not offer regional breakdowns, but described the pilot program as the “hybrid approach”. The AI tools are combined with professionals of human localization to ensure quality control. “The inclusion of the right amount of human expertise can enable localization for titles that are otherwise not accessible to customers,” says the blog post.

The use of AI for the creative/production end of things to span over cultures and languages can be difficult. The filmmacht team behind it The brutalist Saw the Oscar chances of the indie film briefly in uncertainty after a counter reaction in relation to the use of AI to smooth the Hungarian dialogue of the actors. In contrast, the AI is welcome in the living room to improve the process of connection with programming.

The synchronization is also prolifling on YouTube and on social media. Last year youtube introduced AI tools to advertise the synchronization and help video content more easily, and Meta has announced plans for similar resources on roles to support synchronization and lip-synchronization.
