Shreveport fire brigade reacts to gas leakage fire | News

The Crews of the Shreveport fire brigade reacted to a fire under a bridge in the 100 block of the North Market Street on Wednesday and provided an active gas leak at the location.

What was regarded as a grass fire was unveiled not only as a leak, but also as a dilapidated power line. Firefighters stayed on site for three hours until the area was safe.

The Department of Transportation and Development reported on Wednesday afternoon that the bridge was reopened after repairs and a security inspection.

Shreveport fire chief for Special Operations and Safety Calvin Baker Jr. said that the incident could have been “catastrophic” if he had not been recognized quickly.

Centerpoint Energy Personnel identified the source of the leak and started the repair process. Shreveport police officers and Swepco employees stood as well as the Louisiana State Police, the Ministry of Transport and Development and the Office for Water and Sewerage.

Shortly after midnight, the leak was near Twelve Mile Bayou on the north side of the city center of Shreveport. The cause is examined.
