Video: “SerioSher”.

Campbell, California (KGO) – A “serial dasher” in South Bay was arrested after a restaurant caught it on the crime.

The restaurant owner says that the man drank large quantities sushi and alcohol for over two months without paying.

“There are at least five or 600 US dollars and it can be 1,000 US dollars if we draw additional income,” said Randy Musterer, owner of Sushi Confidential.

Musters said that the suspect had done this at least three times between the Campbell and San Jose locations. Musterer had a picture of the man in which the employees in the back could see together with the receipts of the tabs he left.

“He always orders several beers, several foods,” said Musterer.

However, things changed when the suspect was eating and stroking at the Campbell location for the fourth time on Sunday.

Musters said he had received a call from his employees that the man had returned. To ensure that this was actually the same man, they made a plan.

“If you bring his second round of food, let the check fall and tell him that you have to close as a server so that we may be able to speed up this process,” said Musterer, he told the employee to serve the man.

The video shows that the server stays there and is waiting for the man to pay. Instead, this man asks to use the toilet.

“He pretends to go to the toilet and then starts to get the back door immediately, and then he is greeted by our buser, who really prevents him from going on, and then he turned back,” said Musterer.

For the safety of employees and customers, sample callers asked the workers to avoid physical interaction with the man and ran back through the restaurant and the front door.

In the meantime, Musterser said that he and Campbell PD had persecuted the suspect, but could not find it and initially gave up- that was until Musters thought that he had rediscovered him.

“I make a U -turn and it was,” he said.

Pattern called PD who made an arrest. A relief for him, but also neighboring shops.

“I am thrilled that someone was caught,” said Deb Rohzen, owner of Simplying, “the more of it, the better. It is a common problem for all of us.”

ABC7 News turned to Campbell PD, who said the suspect lived in Campbell.

He was quoted and released and expects in court where they say that the Santa Clara County could combine both the Dine and Dash cases both in Campbell and in San Jose for steeper punishments.

Musters hopes that the arrest will serve the suspect and other lesson.

“It damages small companies. It damages all of our employees. And all of this in general there are security problems,” he said. “We just hope that nobody wants to steal from others.”
