Jodi Huisentruit case: Investigation status of investigation status

Mason City, Iowa (KTTC) – An explanation of the lawyer Cerro Gordo County is the focus of an application that was submitted on Wednesday in the ongoing legal dispute over a 2017 search command in the Jodi Huisentruit case.

Huisentruit was missing on June 27, 1995 on the way to her morning anchor job in Mason City.

The application, which was submitted on Wednesday by private investigator Steve Ridges lawyer, Nellie O'Mara and Jesse Marzen, claims a statement that the district lawyer may not be correct during a trial.

On Monday, a judge heard arguments about whether a 2017 search order should not be sealed. The search command for the GPS data from two of suspicious John Vansices cars. It is believed that he is the last person who sees Huisentruit alive. Mason City's police said publicly that the search order was not used. Vansice died in December 2024 and asked the legal dispute to seal the arrest warrant.

Ridge and his lawyers argue that the state has no right to investigate someone after he has died.

Carlyle Dalen, lawyer of Cerro Gordo County, told the court that the investigation was completed, and the affidavit contains details that the examination could be disadvantageous if they are published.

Dalen informed the court that many law enforcement authorities are working on the investigation, including the IOWA cold case unit from the general prosecutor's office.

“Now you even have the Cold Case Unit in the General Prosecutor's office who is working on it,” Dalen told the court.

According to a application submitted on Monday, Ridge and his lawyers may not claim to explain the cold case unit.

After the hearing on Monday, Ridge stood to the director of the Iowa Case Unit Steven Ponsetto about the participation of the agency. Ponsetto confirmed that it is not involved in the investigation and that no agency asked for help from unity.

Ridge's lawyers are now asking the court to hold another hearing on this matter. The application said that they would like to reopen the recording to submit the discovery as evidence.

KTTC has contacted Dalen, but has not heard since the Outreach at the end of the business day.
