Bodycam Video shows Miami Beach police officers who save 2 swimmers under “extremely dangerous conditions” – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sport

Miami Beach, Fla. (WSVN) -Body Camera video caught the moments when four police officers were saved by Miami Beach in need and prompted one of the officials to be caught in a RIP flow.

The film material conquered one of the officers when he plunged into rough water in front of the 16th Street on Tuesday at 9:45 p.m. The high waves were even a hard game for lifeboats in the distance.

The police officer of Miami Beach, Christopher Bess, spoke about the intensive rescue on Wednesday with 7News.

“These were extremely important conditions. Our boats could not even get to the two swimmers in need. Our drones couldn't fly because the winds were too high, ”he said.

The people on the bank were hectic when the officers went into the water.

Minutes later, however, the swimmers were pulled out one after the other.

What was not recorded on video said is one of the officers who were swept by a current.

“One of our officers [was] Worn about 100 meters from bank before the RIP flow, ”he said. “Our ship tried to save him. However, the waves were a bit too strong for the ship, and the ship almost capsized. “

A Miami Beach firefighter helped pull out the officer who was swept by the RIP current.

“[The officer was] Brought to the Mount Sinai hospital and is actually in a good mood, and he actually said he would do it again if necessary, ”said Bess.

This was not the only beach rescue on Tuesday evening. Dozens of officers and a helicopter stormed into the 50th Street area and the Collins Avenue, where the police were almost drowned with two teenagers.

During the spring holidays, the winds and waves were a recipe for danger and prompted the police to publish this warning.

“When you enjoy our beach, do this during the day, where visibility is a little better than at night, but also check the advice,” said Bess.
