GameCock Softball ties Best start in the program history

Columbia, SC – No. 11 South Carolina Softball Team (20-0) tied the program record for victories to start a season when the Gamecocks Youngstown State (2-16) defeated with a final result of 10: 2 Wednesday (March 5) in run-Rum fashion. The 1976 team starts the 20: 0 for the best start in program history.

Quince Lilio, Brooke Blankenhip, Lexi Winters and Abigail Knight all ended with two goals at night. Arianna Rodi led with three RBIs, while Lilio Carolina led with three runs achieved. It was Lilios 12th multi-hit game of the season while it was Ritters 10th.

Olivia Kotowski started in a circle and scored her first career strike in the first inn. The strike came after the penguins scored two runs.

The reigning SEC-CO player of the week, Arianna Rodi, continues to demonstrate her strength and blew a three-run Homerun at the end of the first. Her team leading ninth Homer of the season gave the Gamecocks the lead that they would keep for the rest of the game. She has now housed in five games in a row.

Natalie Heath carried out the bottom of the second Homerun with her own Homerun and hit a solo shot to the left field, her second season. Brooke Blankenship followed with an RBI -Iinfield -Single that Quince Lilio achieved. Lilio had reached the base with a double to right center and expanded her hit series to 19 games. She has achieved the basis in all 20 games this season.

Nealy Lamb loosened Kotowski on the top of the third and immediately climbed out of the side to end the inning. Lamb secured victory and improved to 5: 0 in the season, threw two innings and did not allow a dough to reach.

A few hits by Lexi Winters and Lilio as well as a victim fly by Karley Shelton scored three other runners at the end of the fourth inner.

Kadie Becker only needed nine parking spaces to win the victory with a goalless three-up threes down fifth. Becker secured South Carolinas 12th Rul-Rule victory of the season.

Ella Chancey pulled a few walks at night and extended her stripes to 20 games.

The Gamecocks set off on the road to SEC game with a series against No. 2 Oklahoma from Friday (March 7) at 7:30 p.m.
