Louisvilles Reyne Smith leaves the game with a game injury in the game against Cal

Associated Press

Louisville, Ky. (Ap) – Reyne Smith left the game of No. 14 against California with an obvious injury to the lower leg on Wednesday evening against California.

The senior guard left 12:36 in the first half. When the cardinals returned to the pitch for warming up in the second half, Smith came out after other players and did not take part.

Smith, who is third in the team, who has an average of 13.8 points per game, was one of the catalysts for the cardinals this season. After three seasons, he moved to Louisville with the College of Charleston to continue playing for coach Pat Kelsey.

After the game that the Cardinals 85-68 won, Kelsey said that the team's coach was announced that Smith could not play, but did not know whether his guard could miss additional time.

The native 6-foot 2 Australian is considered one of the nation's best outdoor shooters. For the season he made 106 of his 277 3-point attempts. He heads the Atlantic Coast Conference and is national in 3-point manufacturers. In addition, his 400 career-3 hands took second place among the active players of Division I.

A longer absence would be the latest blow to the depth of the cardinals that the most important players Koren Koren Johnson and Kasean Pryor lost in November due to injuries at the end of the season. Nevertheless, Louisville won eight in a row and 18 out of 19 after he had hit Cal to switch to 24: 6 and 17: 2 in the ACC.

Before the game on Wednesday, Louisville took 13th place in the ACC and made 33.1% of his 3 points, but the 283 of the team were the second most common at the conference. The cardinals went 11 for 23.

“We are a good three-point shooting team,” said Kelsey. “We appreciate this in the recruitment process and we are structured in this way. Obviously Rayne's elite. Rayne is one of the best shooters in College basketball. One of the best shooters I've ever trained, but we have a few people who can take pictures. “
