The quarterback from La Rams, Matthew Stafford, donates uniforms for the Pasadena High Football Team

Pasadena, California (KABC) – The quarterback from Los Angeles Rams, Matthew Stafford and his wife Kelly, surprised the Pasadena High School soccer team by donating brand new uniforms to the players.

There was a loud jubilation of players when Stafford made the announcement to the team on Wednesday during his banquet.

The team lost uniforms and equipment for the Eaton Fire and the subsequent winter storm.

“We need new things. I am only grateful that it comes to us and he came here and had this time for us,” said Andrew Johnson, the team's cornerback. “I'm grateful. Thank you.”

The players got to know Stafford and took photos with him and the Lombardi trophy.

The Bulldogs won the championship of the CIF Southern Section Division 13 – the first school championship in 91 years. The Eaton fire broke out on January 7th.

Some of the players lost their houses in the fire.

“I cannot imagine some of the feelings of loss and grief,” said Stafford. “It hurts my heart, but that's why I'm here today to give back these boys a little joy and hopefully make them excited to play football again.”

The Rams Quarterback says it is all about the love of the game and the return to the community he calls at home.

The Staffords give Pasadena High 60 new university uniforms and also donate 150 uniforms to youth football teams from Pasadena Panthers.
