Dandelion Highway “The Crossing” – Americana UK

The Canadian-Irish Duo-Löwenstraße smiles during the performance and it is impossible not to smile back. There is a gentle joy in her music, which is contagious and a wonderful tonic in a restless world. In “The crossing”Kayleigh McGavock sings, “Knowing them is an priceless thing”, “ And there is a universal truth and beauty in these simple, direct words that everyone can recognize and appreciate. “The crossing” is an absorbing song that is driven by a finely pulsating rhythm and Chris Sytny's hypnotic bass. McGavock's voice rises and drives to beautiful melody flows that were proven by Sytny's inconspicuous support.

“The crossing” Is a song for The Homesick, a feeling that McGavock knows that he moved from Ireland to Canada. She explains “I would like to share the story of 'The Crossing' – the first song that Me & Chris wrote from Grund to a new one! We wrote it in one session, it came together so quickly. I and Chris picked both acoustic guitars. It is a hopeful chorus for homesick! It is for all other immigrants or for people who live far away or far away who live or have died far away. The song is about appreciating the people who mean us at home. It expresses a certain uncertainty that things change with a distance and time. This little swinging outro should be defiant: “The hands on each side, the sea, that binds that shifts the flood, every time I cross.” For me it meant that such love is always there, no matter how far away, certainly like the flood. I think it defines the album and the general identity of the Löwenzahnstrasse very well, the songs are vulnerable and very honest, they are our stories. We want people to hear them and feel less alone and maybe only increase a little. “

The accompanying video staged and produced by Mark Zerenyi plays in a vintage shop, full of memorabilia, clothing and retro pop culture. The location really fits the topics of the song, researches feelings of nostalgia and comfort in the past and at the same time creates new memories through new shared experiences. Above all, we see how McGavock, Sytnyk and her companions have fun to be happy to make music and be together, a positiveness that attracts us.

“The crossing” is the title track from the brand new EP of Dandelion Highway, which is now out. The five songs were recorded with the Canadian producer, musician and composer Ron Lopata (Jacksoul, Jully Black, Lindi Ortega) and are modern people who are influenced by Irish and Canadian singer-songwriter traditions. Sytnyk says about working with Lopata, “Three of the five songs of the EP were not even written when we worked with Ron. We three together had some of the most magical and inspiring music sessions I've ever had to be part. Ron is a producer on a different level and vibrates a higher frequency than almost everyone I have ever worked with. We were also lucky enough to let him play on our tracks. Every note he plays is the right grade at the right time and it is a joy and honor to be in the room with him and watch him. ” The result is an uplifting collection, full of heart. Enjoy.
