Final Fantasy VII resistant birth receives a smaller download on Steam Deck

Square Enix has updated the rebirth of Final Fantasy VII and it managed to download the download size for the steam deck and to lower quite a bit.

Version 1.003 was published today, March 6, with these notes:

  • Improved total play stability, including several error deposits.
  • A problem was fixed in which the application sometimes drops, while playing with certain AMD Radeon products is played on a PC.
  • Reduced the package size when downloading to Steam Deck.

Compare the steam deck download for My Steam Deck and Desktop Linux and is now 88.1 GB, while it is displayed on desktop as 144.2 GB.

Developers can actually set up a special steam deck only for content depot on Steam, with which they could use smaller texture packages, smaller films, etc. (like just two basic examples). Not many developers actually do this.

Nice to see that our favorite handheld can get the update treatment of large studios, especially easier that the game is actually downloaded to save a lot of time and range for people.
