James Brown was announced as the “most busy man in the show business”. This busiest nickname can also be applied to the race committee of the Larchmont Yacht Club, which has just published its regatta time plan of 2025.

This legendary 145-year-old club leads one or the other kind of race almost every day in May. In addition to the 20 large regattas in which the club organizes, LYC sees its fleets from ideal 18s, Z420 and its nine new sonar during the week with coaching, racing and only casual sailing in constant use.

This year the Larchmont Yacht Club will be the host club for three major championships: the American team races for the George Hinman Trophy (September 26th to 28th), the National Championship of the Usoda Team Race (16th to 18th May) and the women, champions and junior championships of the Blitz Class (8th to 11th August). Always according to the LYC schedule, the annual Larchmont Race Week and the Larchmont Junior Race Week (July 11th to July 11th), Robie Pierce Regatta for seafarers with disabilities, which together with the American Yacht Club (May 29, June 1) and the season opening EDLU RACE, organized a race with medium distance for racing drivers/cruisers.

This year the 70th edition of the Edlu race is expected to be on early Saturday, May 10th. The Edlu offers two courses: a 32-mile value and a 20-mile-not spinner. The Edlu is the perfect opportunity for skipper and crews to test their equipment and prepare for the coming season. After completing the race, there is a great party in LYC that you don't want to miss.

In addition to the prospect of winning the prestigious EDLU trophy, the performance of a boat in the Edlu is combined with its performance in the Block -Island race of Storms Sail (May 23) to earn the tuna trophy, and recognizes Arthur “Thuna” Wullschleger's posts and both clubs and The Bookends Trophy.

“In my opinion, the chairman of the race committee of LYC, Karen Ronan, will definitely lead the most busy racing committee for Long Island Sound and beyond,” said Lyc Commodore Chris Schoen. “In addition to the dozens of formal regattas, which you and your team will organize and run, countless days with informal club races, team races and junior races, which all keep on the water this summer. For a club that provides the mission to offer and sail first-class races, this schedule is on its brand.”
