Special Prosecutor, Richter, Nelson Co. Sheriff, deputy top case

Louisville, Ky. (Wave) – Nelson Count is faced with another legal challenge after their sheriff and his chief deputy were charged on Wednesday for criminal charges.

Sheriff Ramon Pineiroa and the deputy chief Brandon Bryan are charged with abuse of public trust, theft through deception, falsification, official misconduct and two violations of the law on the state of Kentucky.

Everything is based on accusations that Bryan confiscated cars to a car seller sold instead of a public campaign. Attorney Thomas Clay believes that Sheriff Ramon Pineiroa has registered for it.

“There is a law that states that forced property has to be announced, and the public gives the opportunity to read and come and come across it,” said Clay. “It has to be a public auction.”

Clay represents two MPs, Ian Justice and wants Purdom, of whom he said he said against the sale and faced retribution. This includes a meeting in February with Pineiroa, Clay and its customers. Clay claims that the sheriff abruptly canceled the meeting when the MPs arrived with representation.

“He says: 'Well, the meetings. We won't stop a meeting, ”said Clay. “So he turns out the light, hits the door and closes the door. And then he begins to go into a tirade against these MPs. “

Clay filed a lawsuit on the same day. Justice, his client, previously spoke to a KSP detective about the allegations, which led to an examination. His bosses were charged just a few weeks after submitting his lawsuit as a whistleblower.

“I didn't know that the return of this indictment was as close as it was,” said Clay. “Because we understood that KSP had carried out an investigation and further steps had to be taken, but obviously this examination was the road down than expected because the indictment was returned almost immediately.”

The allegations have left an uncomfortable feeling in the entire district, with a meaningful wave, it is “sad”, if true, in view of everything that the community is already exposed.

“If we choose an official for a position in the government or in the county or whatever, you are here to serve the community, and it is not good to take money to the community,” said Samuel Johnson, resident of Nelson County.

The honorable Elise Spainhour took over the case as a special judge. She has been working as a judge for family court in Bullitt County for years. Commonwealth's lawyer, Amanda Troutman from Bullitt County, will act as a special prosecutor. She was recently elected to her office after she had campaigned for the question of the “aggressive” crime.

The move to appoint a new judge and a new prosecutor to work on this case comes from an order from the chief administrative judge John Alexander.

In the meantime, Clay said that he was waiting for the names of his customers to be clarified.

“We ask that they are confirmed that what they did was correct and what the sheriff did against them was wrong, and there should be consequences for it,” said Clay.

Wave reached for comment from Pineiroa and Bryan. The sheriff was not in the office when Wave came over and the chief MP had no comment.
