The deaths of NYC construction reached a record high in 2023

The report of the New York Committee for Occupational Safety & Health (NYCOSH) reveals thirty NYC construction workers who died in 2023

Manhattan, New York (March 6, 2025) – A new report has shown that 30 construction workers died all over New York City in 2023, most for a decade.

The report was created by the New York Committee for Occupational Safety & Health (NYCOSH). It is the deadliest year for construction accidents since Nycosh started in 2013.

The deaths occurred in various environments. A worker was crushed by a hydraulic elevator. Three workers died after he was caught at a ditch at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

In the report, lack of staff cited local and federal supervisory authorities. There is also concerns that the OSHA will hire all ongoing regulations.

Liability for New York construction accidents

The construction industry remains quite dangerous despite years of improved security standards. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Falls the job in the private construction industry, the non -fatal workplace, the excursions and trips that were required at least one day from work, at an annualized price of 31.5 per 10,000 full -time employees in the period of 2 years 2021–2022.
