Governor Andy Beshear is reminiscent of 5 years since the beginning of Covid 19 pandemic in Kentucky | Local news

Louisville, Ky. (WDRB) Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear honored the fifth anniversary of the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic during a ceremony in the state capital on Thursday.

Dr. Steven Stack, Commissioner of the Public Healthcare Service in Kentucky, joined the governor to recognize the effects of the disease.

The ceremony comprised Bell ringing, as Beshear suggested in the early days of pandemic. It also contained comments, prayers and vocal performance.

Beshear remembered the moment when he got the call about the first case of the virus state.

“I had come home, I wanted to spend time with Will and Lila and Great Britain, and then I got the call that we had our first case,” he said. “Everything changed. Within a few hours we were fully immersed in the battle of our lives.”

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Covid-19 killed more than 20,000 people in Kentucky.
