On September 14, 2021, the Winston-Salem police responded to Ferrell CT. In the apartment complex Rolling Hills after receiving a report via a shootout. Officers found Charles Edward Anderson Jr. in the apartment with a gunshot wound.

The investigation showed that three people who wore masks and swung handguns in the house of Lateshia Benjamin, the mother of Charles Anderson's children, had hurried to the house of Lateshia. The three tried to Rob.

Anderson tried to defend himself and his family and was physically involved with GIST. Another person opened the fire and wounded Anderson. The video surveillance material later showed Gist and the other two men who fled to the scene after the shootout.

After the incident, it was found that one of the three men had posted a Snapchat story about an hour before shooting, showing GIST and the others with pistols and wore the same clothes that could be seen on the surveillance video.
