Moon Boys try another playoff state

A year ago, the Moon Boys basketball team had just conquered the fifth WPIAL championship of the program with a victory over Franklin regionally in the district finals.

The Tigers were hosts of the Obama Academy in the first round of the Piaa playoffs and won convincingly, 52-34.

They followed with victories over York Suburban (59-38) and Bethel Park (57-51) in order to receive a reserve with Franklin regionally in the state semi-finals.

The Panthers took revenge on the defeat of the District title game and the Tigers ended with 60-43 eliminated and the golden season of Moon with 26: 4.

After a defeat against the final WPIAL 5A champion Chartiere Valley in the quarter-finals of the district and the increase in No. 7 from District 7 with a 1-1 record in the consolation round, the Tigers are severely pushed to repeat their state success from a year ago.

On Friday in the first round Piaa 5a, Moon (19-7) will be east to visit No. 3 team in the state of 5a, Johnstown, at 7 p.m.

The District -6 Champion Trojan won 24 of their 25 games this season, with the only loss on Valentine's Day at one of the top -3a teams of the state, Bishop Guilfoyle, being winning one of the top -3a teams.

Johnstown defeated Hollidaysburg in the District 6 5A championship game with 68-52 before defeating the District 10 Champion Meadville in a sub-regional Piaa game with 52-41.

Here are the other six Piaa games in the first round in which WPIAL 5A -Jungen -Basketball teams are involved:

• Team No. 9 from District 3, Cocalico (14-12), visits Wpial Champion Charters Valley (23-3) at 6 p.m.

• Team No. 3 from the WPIAL, Montour (24-2), Team No. 7 from District 3, Milton Hershey (17-9), will be aligned at 6 p.m.

• Team No. 6 from the WPIAL, Latrobe (20-6), leads to District 3 second-placed exeter township (14-11) at 7 p.m.

• Penn-Trafford (14-12) took off a stunner in the first round in the WPial playoffs when he bounced No. 2 Baldwin. Can the Warriors do it again in the post-season Piaa if they travel to the district of Hershey (21: 3) at 6 p.m.

• The winner of the 10 Meadville District (16-8) organizes Team No. 5 from WPIAL, Uniontown (22-4) at 7 p.m.

• WPIAL No. 4 Mars (14-12) also drives east to the Battle District 3 No. 3 West York (8-6) at 6 p.m.

• WPial Vorner-Up Peters Township (18-8) Hours District 3 No. 8 Spring Grove (11-14) at 6 p.m.

A big task

The baketball team of the Boy Boys has rely on youth and size this season to achieve second place in Section 1-4a and win two consolation games after Avonworth won a quarter-finals against Avonworth to earn number 5 from the WPIOFS in the Piaa Class 4a.

Now the knights will compete with another team with size and youth.

Knoch (19-7) turns the Trek north to Erie on Friday for a 4A game in the first round State Playoff against District 10 Champion Cathedral Prep (17-8) in the Hagerty Family Events Center in Erie at 7:30 p.m.

The knights won five of their last six, including District 7 consolation win against Elizabeth with 18 points and Hirschseen by 14 points.

The Ramblers destroyed Sharon in District 10 4A championship game 92-71.

Michael Thompson, a 6-foot 5 junior, and Ahmmari Horton, a 6-1-Sophomore, scored 58 points for the ECP.

Here are the other four Piaa games in the first round in which WPIAL 4A-Jungs basketball teams are involved:

• Wpial champion Belle Vernon (21-4) hopes

• WPIAL No. 3 Avonworth (19-6) leads north to visit the second-placed Sharon (18-8) District 10 at 7 p.m.

• Another D-10 against D-7 competition in the first round has District 10 No. 3 Hickory (18-6), who visited the second-placed WPIAL NORTH Catholic (7-6) at 7 p.m.

• District 6 champions Martinsburg Central (18-4) fights against WPIAL No. 4 Beaver (19-6) in Hollidaysburg at 7 p.m.

Visit champions from the gate

Two of the four basketball teams of the WPIAL boys from class A will begin the road to Hershey against the neighboring district champions.

Both the Aquinas Academy and the Nazareth Prep have lost in the WPial semi -final and are now driving north and east with high tasks.

The Warriors defeated the saints in the Trost game District 7 to become No. 3 seeds while NP is number 4.

The Aquinas Academy (18-7) will drive to the District 10-Champion Erie First Christian (15-7) on Friday at 6 p.m. in the Hagerty Events Center at 6 p.m. at 6 p.m.

Local companies presented

Nazareth Prep (19-5) travels to the northeast to take over the winner of District 9 Otto-Deldred (25-1) at 7 p.m.

The Eagles won D-1 GOLD by beating up 75: 38 on Youngenville in the final, while the terrors won the D-9 championship by previously undefeated by Elk County Catholic in the title game 52: 51.

• For the first time WPIAL Champion Neighborhood Academy (24-1) will compete in Peters Township against District 5 No. 3 in Peters Township at 7:30 p.m.

Wpial vs. City League

The WPIAL competition against the WPial competition is nothing new for the City League Girls basketball master Allderdice.

In fact, 10 of the 25 games of the dragons were against teams from District 7.

No.

So far, the dragons are 6-4 against WPIAL teams this season.

Allderdice conquered the title of district 8 when he defeated Carrick in the semi-finals, 70-14, and the Obama Academy in the City League championship game (52-45).

The dragons deserved their place in the Piaa night in the off-season by defeating Erie 64-48 in a state subregional game.

After a defeat against Norwin in the WPIAL 6A semi-final, the Big Macs have their place on their way to Hershey with a consolation victory over Lebanon with the Lebanon with 36-34 in the mountains.

Here are the other two Piaa games in the first round in which WPIAL 6A girls basketball teams are involved:

• WPIAL Champion Upper St. Clair (19-6) will accommodate District 3 No. 8 in Manheim Township (7-9) at 6 p.m.

• District 6 Champion Altoona (22-2) is the home of the WPIAL-second-placed Norwin (15-8) at 7 p.m.

Another unbeaten test

Twice in the regular season, the Avonworth Girls Basketball Team had the challenge of giving the first loss of the Shady Side Academy.

Both times the antelope could not be the one that fits into the Bulldogs loss column.

Now it is the opening round of the Piaa Class 3a Girls Basketball Playoffs and Avonworth (18-8) has to compete against another unbeaten team.

On Friday, the Antilopes will visit Northwestern Northwestern at 7 p.m.

The wildcats played 24 games and won each time.

In the playoffs of district 10, Northwestern Mercyhurst Prep in the semi-finals, 46-42, presented and then rolled past Seneca in the title 47-37.

After a defeat against the dear wife of the holy heart in the 3A quarter -finals, the antelope with consolation victory over Quaker Valley recovered by five points and Keystone Oaks.

• The two-time Wpial master Greensburg Central Catholic (21-5) will compete in Southmoreland in Southmoreland against District 6 No. 3 No. 3 Cambria Heights (19-8)

• WPIAL No. 3 of our dear wife of the Holy Heart (22-4) Fights District 10, second Seneca (17-6) at the Sewickley Academy at 7 p.m.

• District 6 Champion Central Cambria (17-8) organizes WPIAL No. 6 Keystone Oaks (20-4) at 7 p.m.

• The master of District 9, Karns City (22-3)

• Wpial Vorner-Up Schady Page Academy (24-1) should collapse after the loss against GCC in the D-7 final if you compete against the second-placed Cranberry (17-6) District 9 at 6 p.m.

Intra distribution collision

Once again, there are only a Piaa matchup in the first round in one of the 12 boys and girls' tournaments in which two teams collide from the WPIAL Collide.

This will take place in a class 2a Clash on Friday, as Chartiere-Houston (20-6) competes against the WPIAL CHAMPION Aliquippa (21-4) at 7 p.m.

The Buccaners and jokes did not play each other this year, but they have a few together opponents.

Both teams played in the Playoffs 3-2A champion Winchester Thurston, with ChartiSh Houston lost in the quarter-finals with 40: 27 against the bears, while Aliquippa displaced the bears in the semi-finals with 50: 43.

The Quips swept three games against the Rival Rochester section with edges of 25, 23 and 31 points. The Buccaners fell on the RAMs in the 2A-kilometer round in double overtime, 48-46.

Local companies presented

Aliquippa's WPIAL Championship in a victory over Neshannock was the first district district of the program for 35 years.

• WPIAL VORNER-UP Neshanock (23-3) will accommodate the District 5 Section Square Everett (16-8) at 7 p.m.

• District 10 Champion and Piaa Top-Kennedy Catholic (18-5) welcome WPIAL No. 6 Fort Cherry (8-5) at 7 p.m.

• WPIAL No. 3 Winchester Thurston (22-4) hits the street to visit the second-placed District 9 in Port Allegany (18-6) at 6 p.m.
