Celebration of the International Women's Day in Madera County held

Madera County, California (KFSN) – A local organization is organizing a celebration on International Women's Day in Madera County this week.

On Friday evening, music, Mexican food, information stands and several speakers of different backgrounds will welcome the community for a celebration in the Courthouse Park.

“Through theater, through poetry, through music, through storytelling and powerful speeches,” said Estela Galvan, a coordinator at the Pan Valley Institute.

“We also have our keynote spokesman who will share what it means to be a migrant.”

The Pan Valley Institute has been planning the event for several months.

The organization focuses on civic engagement in the immigrant community.

“We have to support each other more than ever and the color communities, marginalized communities. Now the time is,” said Galvan.

According to Galvan, increased deportation efforts have caused fear among many in these communities.

It refers in early January – before the office periods.

This week, the US secretary for home protection as part of President Trump's leadership arrested by more than 600 percent.

The government says that everyone who is illegal in the country is subject to distance.

Congressman Tom McClintock, the Republican and Chairman of an important subcommittee for immigrants, recently spoke to Action News about the goals of the Border Czar.

“I think Tom Homan has made it very clear that the top priority is that those who committed others to commit other crimes in addition to the illegal entry into our country,” McClintock told Action News.

“Next, the 1.4 million illegal migrants who had their day were ordered to be deported by a court and refused to do so.”

The organizers of the community want the event to offer clarity and comfort in Madera on Friday.

Silvia Rojas says that she is hopeful that people drop by and don't be afraid.

She will cook authentic Mexican food and is happy to feel the unit among the participants.

“We are hopeful in this unit. Yes, it is scary, but at the same time we have to see how we can be part of the solution,” said Galvan.

The event will take place on Friday, March 6th, in the Madera County Courthouse Park from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
