Derby – Members of the tax authority on March 11th set their schedule to create a new city budget.

Here is the schedule you have accepted:

March 18: Derby school budget (click here to get an overview of the proposal)

March 25: Mayor Joseph Dimartino presents a budget.

April 1: The tax authority (Derby Board of Apartment and Taxation) could adopt a temporary budget.

April 8: A public hearing on the proposed household.

April 15: The budget could be passed by the tax authority.

The Derby Finance Director Brian Hall found that there was a scope with the timeline.

The Derby City Charter gives the board until the last day of business in April to adopt a budget.

The same charter also says that the mayor should present a budget on March 1st.

That didn't happen. The Valley Indy asked Hall after the tax board on Tuesday.

Hall said that the government decided to have other departments first. He found that the education committee asked for more time to submit a budget due to uncertainties in which state and federal help was involved.

We only work through the process, ”said Hall. I am confident that we can do everything in April. “

Both the fire brigade and the police department presented budget presentations on March 11.
