Jack Draper is in Indian Wells in 'Best Match' after Taylor Fritz | Has seen tennis

Jack Draper booked his place in the quarter -finals of the BNP Paribas Open with a direct victory over the third seed Taylor Fritz. Seven consecutive games from the end of the first set turned the game in favor of Draper before navigating a late stumbling and winning 7-5, 6: 4.

Serve dominated the first 10 games, British No. 1 used his only break in the 11th game and served to win the set. Draper, who looked in Indian fountain 13, broke twice when he climbed into a 4-0 lead in the second set.

He finally stumbled when he served 5-2 for the game when a double mistake handed over a break to the American former champion, but a few aces gave him the second attempt to win.

“It is the best game that I played here in the three years in which I was here,” said Draper. “There were a few moments here and there when I was brave about which I talked to my coach before the game.

“Taylor is such an amazing player, so I'm as proud of how I did it.”

Draper faces Ben Shelton in the past eight years after the 11th Seed Brandon Nakashima defeated 7: 6 6: 1.

The run of Sonay Kartal ended in the last phase of the women's event when Aryna Sabalenka beat it 6-1, 6-2. After the withdrawal of Sloane Stephens, British No. 3 achieved the most important draw in competition as a happy loser. After defeating Polina Kudermetova in the previous round, she was rewarded with a collision against the world No. 1 Sabalenka.

Although Kartal won the first game of the opening set, Sabalenka quickly got into the match and set it to book a collision with Liudmila Samsonova, a 6-0 winner with 6: 4 against the sixth Seed Jasmine Paolini.

The Wildcard Belinda Bencic secured its place in the quarter -finals and scored from behind to achieve a 3: 6, 6: 3, 6: 4 against the third seed Coco Gauff. She will compete against the Australian Open Champion Madison Keys, who defeated Donna Vekic 4: 6, 7: 6, 6: 3.
