Placer County starts a new website to help the residents

Auburn, California -Placer County, in collaboration with the fire brigade of Placer County, started the website of the engagement Placer: Brand -Hazard Show Derel.A central hub that helps the residents to understand newly updated forest fire cards, compliance requirements and insurance information.

The site available at https://wwww.engageplacer.org/fhszCorresponds to the owners of real estate in the non-legally capable Placer County with FHSZ mandate, an interactive map viewer and FAQs to navigate the standards of state fire resilience.

This initiative follows by Governor Gavin Newsoms February 2025 Executive Order and Expediting updated fire threats severity zone mapping for local areas of responsibility – regions that were supervised by local fire brigade districts such as the fire brigade by Placer County.

The state firefighter's office is commissioned to classify areas in local areas of responsibility in fire protection zones. The maps that are now available for public review classify non -legal areas in moderate, high or very high risk of fire. Local jurisdiction must either take the new standards or stricter of your choice within 120 days of the publication of the new cards.

Placer County's maps integrate factors such as vegetation, slope and ember cast production potential and fire history in order to prioritize security in regions with a high threat.

Important effects of updated FHSZ cards:

  • Fire department: Changes to the FHSZ classifications have no influence on how fire service services are provided – firefighters will continue to react as always.
  • FHSZ classification: Real estate is classified as medium -heavy, high or very high risk of fire, border zones, based on terrain, vegetation, fire history and climate conditions.
  • Fire risk against risk: The cards indicate that a potential for hazard, not directly, takes into account the risk and no reduction efforts such as a defending space or fire -resistant construction work.
  • New building: Projects in designated zones must stick to building codes from Wildland-Urban interfaces.
  • Effects on property owners: Homeowners in a very high FHSZ must meet strict, defensive spatial requirements. A defending space freedom of 100 feet is mandatory for structures in these zones. (GOV code 51182).

New construction and renovation work in certain zones must adhere to building codes from Wildland-Urban interfaces.

Real estate sellers must disclose FHSZ names during real estate transactions.

Website Functions:

  • Interactive card -viewer: Search addresses to display FHSZ classifications for non -legal areas.
  • Compliance Guides: Detailed steps for defensive room, home and home and Wildland-Urban interface code standards.
  • FAQs: FAQs of Cal Fire, California, Department of Insurance and Placer County from Community Resource Development Agency from Placer County.
  • Public Q & A portal: Send questions and comments before accepting the Placer County Board of Supervisors.

Design cards will be presented to the Placer County Board of Supervisors for review and acceptance in May. The final is aimed for June 10th.

The residents are asked to check the cards and to submit feedback via the website before the board of directors decided. Visit More information.
