Detective quickly identified a person of interest in the investigation and over the past week they had gained more and more evidence of supporting criminal proceedings and the arrest of these suspects. This suspect was identified as the 23-year-old Yonkers residents, Keymel Washington. However, Yonkers detectives had a problem and this problem was the search for Washington.

Suspect

The first attempts to locate Washington proved to be unsuccessful, but the detectives had another way to track it down. The law enforcement agencies began to spread information about Washington both on both news agencies and about social media. This method now turned out to be successful.

This form of public range meant that Keymel Washington handed over to the Yonkers Police Department at the beginning of this week on Monday, March 10, 2025. According to the press release, Washington was charged with the following charges in front of the Yonkers City Court …

  • Two (2) counts of the attempted murder in the 2nd degree
  • A (1) count of the criminal possession of a weapon in the 2nd degree
  • Two (2) counts of the ruthless threat in the 1,4th degree

According to his indictment, Washington was referred back to the West Chestian County prison with 50,000 US dollars in cash/100,000 US dollars.

In response to the case, the Mayor of Yonkers Mike Spano asked the state of New York to give “resources and tools to improve public security”. Commissioner Chris Sapienza also commented on the case that was of crucial importance for the invention of the “dangerous person”.

Both the mayor Spano and Commissioner Sapienza have guaranteed strong attitude against gun violence and the safety of the residents of Yonkers. Due to the recent violent incidents that have taken place in the city, the Mayor Spano has instructed the Yonkers Police Department to increase both the motor and foot patrols in targeted areas in the city. This means that the residents can expect both uniformed and simple civil servants within the framework of this proactive public security initiative.
