Austin in the Texas Hill Country region is again exposed to high fire this week

Dry air and strong winds together with dry soil create dangerous fire weather conditions for the U -Bahn area of Austin and the hills.

Austin, Texas – while we originally set up a day for Weating Impact alarm for Friday due to increased fire weather concerns, we expand this alarm to Saturday.

Here is a daily breakdown of the fire weather in the next few days.

Friday, March 14th

Friday seems to have the more serious fire weather concerns regarding the U -Bahn area Austin. For areas along and west of the Interstate 35 from 12 noon to 9 p.m., a fire weather clock was issued, and we have an idea that this is upgraded to a warning to the red flag.

Austin in the Texas Hill Country region is again exposed to high fire this week

This is largely due to warm temperatures, the heights in the upper 80s, as well as strong winds that could bend up to 30 miles per hour for the hilly country and 25 to 30 miles per hour for the Austin and the I-35 corridor.

With these strong winds, paired with dry soil and warm temperatures, the A&M Forest Service in Texas has highlighted the areas along the I-35, including the Austin subway, in the “extreme” risk of fire.

Saturday, March 15th

While no fire brigade warnings have yet been issued for Saturday, this will probably change within the 24 hours from Thursday morning. This is due to the fact that on Saturday afternoon we will follow even more common winds in the U -Bahn -Land- and Hill -Land in Austin. These gusts could receive up to 35 miles per hour in the Austin subway and 40 to 45 miles per hour in the coastal levels.

For what it is worth, the criteria for a severe thunderstorm warning are 58 miles per hour, so that we will not be far from it.

While we expect to be cooler on Saturday afternoon when a dry frontal system looks through on Friday, the more common winds and dry ground lead to an extreme fire risk that remains for the hilly country until Saturday and in North Williamson County and San Marcos.

The U -Bahn from Austin takes a step from “extreme” to “very high” for Saturday. However, this does not mean that the fire threat in the U -Bahn Austin should not be taken seriously for Saturday.

The latest drought conditions

Our youngest drought monitor is no longer and dry soils are a key factor for the fire weather concerns. The soils are so dry in the hilly country because many of these areas were involved in the lightning village from last autumn, which still cause problems in this part of the region.

The latest update of the drought monitor shows “extraordinary” drought in sections of the counties Gillespie and Blanco and marks the first time that the name in the area of KVUE has been recorded since October 24, 2023.

The end result

We are pursuing an extreme fire weather problem for Friday and Saturday. The floors are dry, the winds are strong and the temperatures for Friday.

It is very important to burn nothing outside on Friday and Saturday and to exceed your fire plan if you are instructed to evacuate.
