Capital CrossRoads and the DSM Workforce Collaborative of the DSM employees of the Moines partnership have launched the Capital CrossRoads Workforce Development Ecosystem MAP, which offers a visual representation of organizations, programs and resources in the development in Polk, Dallas and Warren.

The card was designed as an interactive tool with which experts can better navigate for workforce developments.

The pilot was initiated in response to the interest of corporate, human resource, education and state and state and state and government heads in order to promote the needs of the regional workforce. The efforts correspond to the goals of the DSM Workforce Collaborative of the partnership, a group that focuses on improving the current and future workforce in Central -Iowa.

According to a press release, the map came from one year of research and the interpreting cooperation as well as the commitment of more than 150 managers and organizations in the community.

“Career planners in Central -Iowa have expressed that the card will be a great instrument because they help job seekers to connect with the resources of the community,” said Michelle Seibert, Community Impact Officer, economic opportunities at United Way in Central Iowa. “This card is a means for the cooperation and coordination of more community to ensure that people develop critical skills to be competitive on the labor market and to acquire good jobs that offer financial stability over generations.”

The card is updated regularly to reflect current programs and resources. Community members can give feedback via the website.

Capital CrossRoads and the DSM Workforce Collaborative are preparing for the next phase of the project, which will concentrate on improving Central Iowa talent development strategies by breaking off the working-based learning and career exploration options for the company's companies.

The Ecosystem map of the workforce was made possible by a grant of the Community Betterment program by Prairie Meadows.
