SLED confirms the investigation of the alleged misconduct by horry County Officer

Conway, SC (WMBF) – had

Renee Wunderlich with SLED confirmed on Thursday that the agency was investigating alleged misconduct by a police officer from Horry County.

Brandon Strickland is at the center of the investigation in the event of the death of Scott Spivey.

“Today, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) opened an investigation by the former deputy head of the Horry County police authority for allegations of misconduct,” said Wunderlich.

She confirmed that SLED does not reopen the investigation into Spivey's death, but a new investigation in relation to knittedland behavior during the examination was initiated.

At the beginning of this week, the WMBF News learned that the Horry County police authority asked for external agencies to check the case.

In a statement published on Wednesday, the HCPD said that the department last week was made aware of “continued questions related to a shooting incident in Camp Swamp Road in September 2023.

HCPD boss Kris Leonhardt also asked both the FBI and the law enforcement department of the state of South Carolina.

HCPD confirmed to the WMBF on Tuesday that Strickland had resigned from its position at the department.

Strickland joined the police department in 2005 after serving the US Coast Guard.

The sled test in Strickland's behavior is active and permanent.

HCPD Kris Leonhardt addressed the media after requesting the FBI and the sled to deal with a fatal shootout in 2023 in which a local restaurant owner was involved.

Incident background

The shot in question is that a WMBF message has been dealt with in detail for almost a year and a half.

In 911, Boyd claimed that Spivey had a gun on him and a passenger. Another person claimed that Spivey aggressively drove to Boyds Truck and almost ran him off the street. More people called in 911 and described the shootout, with Boyd Dispatchers told that Spivey first shot him on him.

Ultimately, Boyd was not charged with the shootout, whereby the prosecutors cited a lack of sufficient evidence of examining the case from the lawyer of the 15th circuit. In June 2024, however, Spivey's family submitted an illegal complaint against Boyd.
