2024-25 Mississippi State Men Basketball Postgame Quotes
Mississippi State against No. 21 Missouri – March 13, 2025

Mississippi State head coach Chris Jans

Q: A hard finish for the game. What did you see that you were unable to do the route down to keep the game where it was?

CJ: “Yes, I would definitely like to have the last four minutes back. Obviously it doesn't work. It was the time and we didn't play well during the winning time. That is the end result. They played better than we did. It was obviously back and forth throughout the game.”

“I felt very good about it. When we did her blow in the first half, came back at half -time and then came out.

Q: It seems that they had done a pretty good job that they triggered from the three -point line. That opened things inside. What were the buttons defensive and how did she feel the execution?

CJ: “Well, the three-point line was a large part of our game plan. This year we were rightly bad for our percentage percentage.

“Tonight, [Tony] Percins and [Tamar] Bates just had the way with us. But when grill was on the square, we tried our best to limit his attempts and just make it as hard as possible. Just don't let him get in any kind of rhythm because he can open the games. “

“It was a little suspended not to have as much gap support for the ball handler. They have bullied us a few times around the basket and put the ball in it. They did a good job to take what we presented to them.”

“We tried to restrict them. As I said, we made a pretty good job out of the three. They were 8-against-24. I thought most of Calebs, but maybe one, were quite well contested. It definitely opened us for some other shortcomings.”

Q: In terms of the crime in the last five minutes, only one field gate was made. What did you see as the problem in this route with the crime?

CJ: “It is one of these games in which there were so many decisive games. I guess, I think we had it a few times on the edge on the edge to watch it a little better. The last games.

Q: Obviously you are in a good position to get into the tournament for three years in a row. What do you think about where your team goes to the big dance?

CJ: “Sure, 10,000 feet view, we are in a good position. But wanted to be in a better position and in a great position. What I kept talking to our team on the track was that we control our own fate. We didn't need help. We didn't have a pretty good first 15, 16 games of the season. We were in large part.
“I thought we survived the storm pretty well. But we did not end the regular season with the loss of loss of Texas and then with the defeat against Arkansas. Definitely hit the reset button here and felt really good where we were and the mood.

“We played our practices and our focus well last night. [Tonight]I just didn't play well for winning. That is the end result. We just didn't play well for the last four minutes of this specific game. After all, we will soon be grouped again and look forward to the next for us. But at the moment there are ways to leave us away from us. “

Q: The last time they met Mizzou, they not only called them one of the better teams in the Sec, but in the country that nobody talks about. How would you say with further national media reporting about the team that Mizzou has grown in your eyes?

CJ: “Back then I was a pretty good predictor, not (I smiled)? I think what protrudes me for me is only her depth. I mean, look at the statistics [Mark] Mitchell played 12, 13, 14 minutes, right? It was not a problem. You play so many people. You have your main title, but you can mix. Sometimes sometimes it is accidental, at least from where we sit. Wherever you sit, I am sure that there is rhyme or reason for it. “

“I think their depth. Then there are so many people who have the ability to shoot the ball and stretch the D. They play with a lot of self -confidence. Coach gates and his employees obviously do a really good job. They are really, really good. I mean, they are really, really good.

Wake up Josh Hubbard And Shawn Jones Jr.

Q: Josh, two -point game in the last four minutes. You have the time crossing, go to the Huwdle. They closed a 13-4 run. What have you seen in the last few minutes?

JH: “Yes, it was just a bad route for us and a good route for them. They only did well offensive. They once brought us to a back door with Caleb Grill. We only had a few defensive errors. Yes, that was quite a bit.”

Q: Shawn, last game you played Missouri, Caleb Grill had a really good game. Today he only had a three pointer. How much of him was the game plan from beyond the arch?

SJJ: “It was a large part. He is an elite triangle scorer. [Coach] Jans asked us to run it from the three -point line and not to make it look open. We tried to exceed that as much as possible. “

Q: Sometimes I know the beginning of these second half, they were really the better team in the first four or five minutes of the second half. What was the message in the changing room at halftime?

JH: “We know in the last games in the second half that we slowly came out. We sermon to stay positively to each other come out strongly and stay positive. Just go out there and just dominate.”

Q: Shawn, the team fought offensive. They gave them a nice elevator in the first half. How did you feel like you could get in there and lift the team up?

JH: “Just come in and play basketball. When he first played defense, the offensive game would come to me. To be confident in my shot and to trust the offensive work that we do. Everything comes to me.”

Q: Josh, in relation to the March Madness projections and things that are out there, this team is in a location similar to last year. Is there something that you may think differently for this team that may run in the NCAA tournament?

JH: “Yes, we are definitely a special team this year. In any case, we can do some runs. Do you have the potential to be a scary team in March Madness. Hopefully we just have to react well to it. We wanted this victory, look forward to next week.”
