Harts plumbers, electricians and HLK technicians share expert advice in honor of the Fix-A-Leak Week |

Tacoma-The provider of home services asks the homeowners to stay diligently through the search for leaks in order to avoid costly repairs

Tacoma, Wash.Present March 14, 2025 / Prnewswire/ -harts Plumbers, Electricians & HVAC Technicians, a top-home service provider founded in 2013, will honor the annual Fix-A-Leak Week of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) March 17th to 23rd By offering homeowners to recognize and repair leaks before they become very expensive.

“Household leaks cost homeowners almost 1 trillion gallons water a year,” said Richard HartCo-owner of Harts Plumbers, electricians and HLK technicians. “It is therefore important that homeowners learn to recognize the signs of a hidden leak and understand why it is important to stop the leak as soon as possible.”

The EPA estimates that 10% of the houses have licks that waste 90 gallons water or more per day. All year round, this can give hundreds of dollars to a homeowner account of a homeowner.

The experts from Harts Plumbers, Electricians & HLK Technicians recommend that homeowners diligently stay in their houses over leaks and specify the following suggestions:

  1. Check the house on LECKS: Homeowners should search for standing water on floors and damp spots on walls or blankets. This could indicate a leak in an inner tube or leaky roof.
  2. Check the toilet for leaks: Place a few drops of food coloring in the tank and wait 15 minutes to determine if the colored water runs into the bowl. If this is the case, the flapper is bad or worsened and should be replaced.
  3. Check the water knife: Check the display on the water knife, write down the number and wait two hours. If the measuring device has moved when no water has been used, there can be a leak somewhere in the house.
  4. Check the water bill: When a family of four exceeds 12,000 gallons a month, there is probably serious leaks somewhere in the household.
  5. Check the roof: Note all loose or missing shingles and replace them to prevent the formation of leaks. Let the roof inspect a professional roof every year as soon as it is older than 10 years to ensure that there are no hidden leaks. Dales can cause the wooden frame of the house to damage water or leak into the house, which causes damage inside.

“Lecks are one of the most common sources for water damage in a house,” said Hart. “That is why it is so important that Fix-A-Leak Week is so important. It reminds us to stay vigilant when we check our houses on leaks and water damage so that we can avoid costly repair calculations.”
