220,968 Americans who are exposed to the names, addresses, social security numbers, medical records and more as a major data violation

Hundreds of thousands of Americans are now exposed to the risk of identity theft and data protection violations after a serious security violation at a personal healthcare company.

The patient care company Sunflower Medical Group, based in Kansas, said a cyber security incident with 220,968 Americans at the end of last year.

According to Sunflower, an “unknown third party” illegally accessed the company's database and copied customer documents, including names, addresses, birth data, social security numbers, driving license numbers as well as health and health insurance documents.

“On January 7, 2025, the Sunflower Medical Group, PA ('Sunflower'), became aware of suspicious activities in its computer network. With the support of a leading cyber security company, Sunflower started an investigation immediately. The study found that an unknown third party on or around December 15, 2024 had accessed the systems of Sunflower and during this time acquired copies of files from the systems from Sunflower. “

Sunflower is a medical medical practice with several specialties that offers primary and urgent care as well as a number of laboratory examinations.

The company said that it has abrupt letters to affected customers to inform them about the security incident and at the same time offer people with identity theft protection services whose social security or driver's license numbers were compromised.

Sunflower initially says that there is no incident with the misuse of customer data.

The company says that affected users should remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in connection with their personal or health data.
