Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway announces bicycle train – Times News Online

The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway will work with Pocono Byking again in 2025 to offer its popular bicycle trains on selected weekends in spring and summer.

The bicycle trains have been a staple for the railway schedule for more than a decade and offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore the region. Cyclists of all ages and qualifications bring their bicycles to the Jim Thorpe station to drive the 25-mile delaware & Lehigh Trail from White Haven back to Jim Thorpe.

Bicycles are safely loaded on the front of the train on the front of the train, while the passengers in standard trainers drive north through the Lehigh Gorge State Park.

When arriving in White Haven, railway staff support passengers when picking up their bicycles before starting with the scenic ride back to Jim Thorpe.

Along the route, cyclists encounter channel residues, scenic viewpoints, rock formations, wildlife and railways.

For those without a bike, Pocono Bying offers a limited number of rental for bicycle train weekends.

The passengers receive rental bikes on arrival in White Haven and bring them back to the location of Pocono Byking near the Jim Thorpe ticket ship.

Back and forth return and taxi driver options

For those who are looking for a longer train journey, back and forth tickets from Jim Thorpe to White Haven and Back are available. The approximately three-hour 50-mile trip offers a breathtaking view of the Lehigh Gorge State Park in both directions.

Diesel -Taxi tickets with a limitation of two drivers per trip are available for an Ultimate Railroading experience. Taxi drivers enjoy a view of the picturesque route in the front row and receive and get an insight into the railway operation.

Tickets are only on the call of the railroad at the number 570-325-8285 (option 1) between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Bicycle trains work on: May 17th to 18th; 6th, 7th June 28; 19th to July 20; 16. To August 17 and 20 to September 21. Jim Thorpe's departures are at 9:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
