The man, who was killed in Boylston, Massachusetts last week, was identified in an officer, and an external lawyer was brought to check the case, the authorities said on Friday.

It is the first major update of the investigation since the shootout on March 5, from which the police are looking for an “armed and dangerous suspect”. Only a few more details were shared on Friday, the examination continued.

Patrick Sargent, a 25-year-old from Boylston, was the man who was killed in the shootout, said the public prosecutor's office of the Worcester district.

They no longer shared information about how he died or how the police were involved in the shootings. However, they said that the state police continued to examine what happened and their results as soon as they were hit presented to the public prosecutor.

The public prosecutor also said that district prosecutor Joseph Early brought a former public prosecutor of Essex County to check the case even though they did not say why.

NBC10 Boston had contacted prosecutors to obtain information about what happened when someone was arrested and how an official was involved.

The incident started with reports on a shootout in a house in Central Street in Boylston at 10 a.m., said the Massachusetts state police at that time and referred further questions to the Boylston police and the public prosecutor's office of Worcester County. The Boylston police initially said they were looking for an “armed and dangerous” suspect in connection with this case.

In the late afternoon they said there, they examined a fatal shootout in the city, but did not indicate whether it was the same shootout. The one added that the public was not a threat. It was not clear whether the investigators were still looking for a suspect.

On Wednesday afternoon there was a large police presence in Central Street and in French Drive, including K9 and drone units, said the Boylston police.
