Dekalb County Deputy was charged after rape examinations

The 29 -year -old Zachary Kerley from Huntertown turned around in the morning when, according to the police, he was charged with rape.

Dekalb County, Ind. – A member of the Sheriff Department Dekalb County is behind bars after he was charged with a rape examination.

According to a press release from the Indiana State Police, a detective with ISP began an investigation of an allegations against the 29-year-old Zachary Kerley from Huntertown in February. According to reports, Kerley served as a resource representative for the Garrett High School in addition to his tasks as the deputy of the Sheriff office of the DEKALB County.

After the investigation, the police stated that Kerley raped a woman in September 2024. Kerley was charged on Friday, March 14th, and he later turned this morning.

The police say that the allegations of rape are “not the result of or in relation to his duties as Sro” with the Garrett High School.

His first hearing is planned for March 17 at 1:30 p.m.
