Smith opened in January Advertising board about his decision to publish an album two decades after his last record, 2005, in 2005 Lost and found. “A well -opened one in me, a fountain of understanding of art and pain … all sorts of things that I didn't even know about were in there,” he said. “After the Oscars, this spiritual examination continued and a whole world woke up inside that I didn't even know it was there. Dreams, visions; Parts of my inner landscape, for which I had no consciousness three years ago. And that opened this blow to share what I see and experience to explore. A large part of my music is now: the ecstatic nature of joy that I remember from the church when I grew up; The ability to make this place more bearable. You know, I always had a wild imagination; This is part of who I am. But something new happens to me that demands that I research musically. “

Smith also indicated plans for three albums under the Based on a true story Banner (to whom he described Advertising board as “three seasons of a TV music show”).
