2025 Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball tournament: schedule, bracket, recent history, television/streaming information

The 2025 ACC men's tournament -logo clip in the semi -finals.

format

A traditional bracket with 15 teams, the same that the ACC used since Notre Dame in 2017 (apart from years when a team did not participate due to sanctions).

Website

The Spectrum Center will be organized both this season and next season. The home of the last organized in 2019 Charlotte Hornets. Between 2026 and 2029, the Spectrum Center and the first Horizon (Greensboro) Coliseum will change.

Participant

The ACC expanded from 15 to 18 with the additions of California and Stanford from the PAC-12 and the SMU by The American Athletic. However, the field of the conference tournament stayed at the age of 15 and confused many. This decision (and those who were only hit by 14 years of up to 15) was made for competition balance sheet purposes in order to correspond to how BYES are distributed by the 16-team second and big 12.

  • In a conference with 16 teams, it is easy to ensure that the upper half of the conference (eight teams) earns at least one bye. All you have to do is implement the old Big East Double-bye format that says goodbye to the four best teams for the quarter-finals and teams five to eight in the second round.
  • The ACC and Big Ten could have had a 16-team clip, but then only the eight best teams get a double-bye, but with 18 teams this is not half of the membership in the league. By setting the field at 15, the 8 and 9 seeds meet in the second round and skip the first. This ensures that the upper half of the 18 members earn at least one bye.

All of this means to defend Champion NC State (12-19, 4-16, 16.) (one of three 2024 tournament champions that did not qualify in 2025 next to the Long Beach State of Maac's Saint Peter and Big West in 2025); Boston College (12-19, 4-16, 17th); and Miami (7-24, 3-17, 18th) are not according to Charlotte.
