The lawyer discusses the sled exam in the former deputy head of horry County

Horry County, SC (WMBF) – Jimmy Richardson Jimmy Richardson spoke on Friday after the state law enforcement department announced an investigation by a former deputy chief horry County.

“There is simply not much what you can say in the study at this time,” said Richardson.

The examination of Brandon Strickland is about alleged misconduct.

SLED said it was about Scott Spivey's death in September 2023.

At that time Richardson withdrew his office from the investigation and handed it over to the general prosecutor's office.

“I don't know that there is an actual rule that it says. It is only “what is the right thing at this time,” he said.

According to Richardson, it is not uncommon for the departments to pass on cases together to ensure public trust in the legal process.

Richardson said you would repeat yourself for this investigation.

Weldon Boyd, who belongs to the North Myrtle Beach Restaurant Bojen on the Boulevard, was accused of Spivey's death, but the office of the Attorney General received no charges for lack of evidence.

The examination of Strickland could also affect other cases in which he was involved.

“It would depend on the examination and we are not nearby at that time,” said Richardson.

He explained that if misconduct was found, defenders and judges had to be made aware of, and what happens next depends on the role that knittedland had in these cases.

Richardson emphasized that just because an examination is open that someone did something wrong.

He said he believed that all the details will come out in the end.

“As soon as it is over, I think that they will surely come out and say, they know that they are the knowledge,” said Richardson.

Strickland abruptly resigned on Tuesday, one day before HCPD, to ask SLED and the FBI, to examine the case again, and two days before the start of the examination.

WMBF News is working to find out what kind of misconduct against Strickland is claimed.
