Actually observe that harmful winds accompany fast -moving storms

Cedar Rapids, Iowa (KCRG) – Storm is likely to be in parts of East -Iowa tonight.

Your first warning: several hours of a severe storm threat

A severe thunderstorm clock applies to parts of the TV9 consideration area. If you are not now included in this watch, which is represented by shaded counties below, one will probably be issued later in the evening.

Current staggering reports from the National Weather Service.
(KCRG)

As expected, a broken striker line has developed in our southwest and rises to north and northeast at around 60 to 70 miles per hour. Storms have created reports of high gusts and wind damage when they move through these areas and the threat continues when the line is better organized.

Due to the presence of strong winds in the atmosphere and a considerable dry air in the atmosphere, harmful winds seem to be the main threat to these storms. Gusts of 70 to 90 miles per hour can occur in some storms, which could cause considerable damage to trees and power lines in the storms that take place.

However, the threat to tornados is also not completely excluded. In the early evening, warm air temperatures and rather poor moisture values near the surface will be negative factors, since the cloud bases are held far from the floor. Closer to sunset or beyond, since the temperatures are cool and taups a little, there can be a window for one or two tornado. The highest risk for this is in Southeast -Iowa.

Due to the rapidly moving nature of these storms, the time window in which storm threatens is relatively narrow. The storms themselves can take place through a certain community within 15 to 30 minutes. Below you will find the time frames that are weather -related in the course of the evening:

What to do when storms threaten their region?

Since this is the first risk of severe storms this season, it is a good idea to check the steps that must be taken when a warning is issued. Since the storms move quickly, their response time may be shorter than normal.

If a storm approaches in your area, you are looking for protection inside. When a warning is issued, go to the lowest floor of your house, away from windows. In the case of a tornado warning, set as many walls as possible between you and the outside as in an interior or a bathroom. A basement is best when you have one. Cover your head and neck with pillows or blankets or a bicycle helmet when you have one. If you are in a mobile home, give it up for more extensive protection. When you are caught outdoors, try to get into an interior accommodation. Finally, put flat in a ditch as you protect your head and neck. Do not search for protection under bridges or transfer.

It is important that you have several ways to receive warnings. In this case, a NOAA weather radio is a great tool. Make sure that it is connected and switched on, ready to receive warnings before going to bed. We also recommend the KCRG-TV9 First Alert Weather app, with which you can receive customer-specific warnings for your location. Of course, we will also present updates on KCRG.com and KCRG-TV9 as conditions.

Calmer but cooler for the weekend

Behind this storm system we expect gusty winds to remain for a large part of the weekend. Saturday will be the stormy day of the two, but winds remain strong enough to be a nuisance on a cooler Sunday.

The temperatures tiled the 1940s tonight for lows, and we will probably stay close to these readings or only increase a little during the day on Saturday. Clouds are somewhat widespread with occasional breaks. Scattered showers are possible in this area of the clouds. These could either be in the form of rain or a little bit of rain. Some refugees could linger until Saturday evening.

More sunshine is likely to look on Sunday, but the temperatures only make it into the 1940s after the beginning of the 20s.

Warmer early next week, wet in the middle

We will boost ourselves strongly for the start of work and school week. The heights are on a slightly windy Monday for most of the 1960s. Despite the breeze, this should provide all celebrations for St. Patrick's Day on comfortable conditions.

Tuesday was able to reach the 1970s again for a large part of the area, with a mixture of sun and clouds. This is ahead of our next storm system that is coming up for the middle of the week.

Rain will be possible on Wednesday, while this storm moves in and colder air moves on the back. This could lead to a mix with or to Snow by Wednesday evening to Wednesday evening. If the timing works properly and this happens after dark, a certain accumulation of snow is out of the question.
