The video game director Josef Taries says

Think about video games and you will probably think about something competitive.

Some of the most popular titles in the world, such as Fortnite and Call of Duty, are focused on overloading, overwhelming or exaggerated opponents.

But as Josef Tariffs and his studio Hasmonight showed, that's not the only thing that players want.

His latest split fiction is a joint experience in which two players work together to solve puzzles and make obstacles.

The adventure game has received enthusiastic reviews, sold one million copies in 48 hours and is currently one of the most watched titles on the streaming platform for Twitch.

It is not one. His previous title, it takes two, contained a similar “Couch Co -OP” gameplay, sold 20 million copies and won a “Game of the Year” award.

What draws players about these friendlier experiences?

“Cooperation!” – It takes two, hazellliche previous game, was a hit hit

A report by the Analytics Company Midia Research showed that the Couch Cooper Coop was particularly popular with people aged 16 to 24.

There were 9,000 players worldwide and explained that around 40% of the respondents in the age group stated that it was their preferred way to play.

The report says “Social Play is an essential part of playing for younger consumers” and suggested that more developers could try to involve collaborative elements.

Cooperative games are also big with streamers – to see the players seeking while trying to conquer a new title, is a great source of viral moments.

The game revolves around the fantasy author Zoe and the science fiction author Mio, who is caught in simulated versions of her own stories.

Melissa, an enthusiastic reader, says the plot spoke to her, but she invested the chance to join together.

“Many time when you play video games, you are isolated from other people and it is just nice to be together. Spend this high -quality time together,” Melissa told Newsbeat.

John says that popular online games are often very competitive, which can be stressful.

“I don't want to come home tired and have to concentrate 100% to be just okay in one game,” he says.

“While I can just sit back, relax and enjoy the experience.”

What Hasmonight does is unique, but other companies implement co-op functions in their titles.

Super massive games in GuildfordWhat specializes in “Interactive Horror Movies” made Couch Couch, a standard mode in his titles after releasing his breakout hit until dawn.

They found that the players let the single player title through in groups and passed the pad between them as a narrative – which changes based on the decisions made in the game.

Competitive social game is also popular. Some of the best -selling games in the Switch system from Nintendo – Mario Kart 8 and the Mario Party series – are often played with friends on TV.

In recent years, developers have tried to replicate so -called “Live -Service” titles that continues to update and keep so -called “Live -Service” title, if not years.

If you do it right, the potential financial rewards are enormous, but it is difficult to go through a saturated market.

And how the video game industry continues deal with mass distancesStudies and reduced expenses for Premium games, not many publishers want to take a risk.

Josef believes that the end result may be too focused.

“Publisher has to increase and really trust the developer,” he says.

“But also developers, I think, have to have a clear view and stay in what they believe in.”

However, he admits that not everyone has the story of his studio or personality.

“I am – what do you say? – Another breed,” says Josef.

When he headed his first game, Brothers was: a story of two sons, feedback from some early game tests was “super bad”.

“I am like, they are wrong, they are wrong because I know it's great,” he says.

Before resistance to the pressure, he spoke in his projects to put microtransactions – in the game – and, despite the close relationship of his studio with EA, one of the world's greatest publishers, is uncompromising.

“I don't expect everyone to be like me, but I am with my extreme self -confidence,” he says.

“What we do, I love it.

“We stick to the vision of what we believe in. Stick to the vision, go with it.

“And I think if you really love what you do, you love it too.”
