Mobile County EMA offers security tips in front of storm threats

Mobile, Ala. (Wala) – The Mobile County Emergency Management Agency wants them to be prepared before a possible storm.

“We know that it comes, so let all of your shops avoid and reach a secure place-the safest place you can go and just wait until the storm is over,” said EMA director Mike Evans.

Evans said the district was prepared and it is important that they are.

“You want to get into a room that has no window,” he said. “You want to be in a room surrounded by outdoor spaces, so that in general in most people there will be a hallway or a bathroom at home.”

Fallen trees are always a danger in storms.

City Forest Peter Toler from City of Mobile has some advice.

“If a tree fails, the most important thing for a citizen is primarily, if possible, 15 to 20 feet. Report whether it is an entire tree, part of a tree, when the street is blocked, partially blocked, make sure you call 3-1-1,” he said. “We are one of the most covered cities in Alabama, so it is a process that is constantly going on.”

3-1-1 is the number that you can report problems to the city of Mobile.
