Squads announced for the A-League match of women between Sydney and Phoenix

Wellington Phoenix added Football Far Grace Jale to the extended squad for the A-League game on Saturday against Sydney.

However, Jales New Zealand's international team-mate Mackenzie Barry was excluded due to an injury from the Ninja A-League game.

Jale has been out of the way with the national team since a thigh injury in Costa Rica and has missed three games for the Phoenix.

“She trained sharply this week, scored goals and connected to people,” said head coach Paul Temple.

“You notice how much we probably missed you, so really good to have you back in a team (and) to look forward to bringing you to the pitch.”

Temple said it was unlikely that Jale would make 90 minutes in her return match, and her minutes would have to be managed.

Mackenzie was excluded last weekend against Western Sydney Wanderers in Porirua Park.

Temple said she had a “pretty great success” in the game against Adelaide United and left her a foot injury.

“It is one of those I think that it is too early, it only stays there and you have to manage it week after week.”

Temple said that he had to think positively and that the Phoenix would have eight or nine other games, including play-offs, and Barry should not be hurried back.
