The UC previously received a letter in December about a complaint submitted on November 17, 2023. “Since the beginning of October 2023, there has been an increase in anti -Semitic incidents at the UC, including the hiring of the door of a Jewish brotherhood house and the verbal harassment of Jewish students”.

Other complaints that the university received

In this letter it was claimed that UC did not respond appropriately to the harassment cases that made the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) opened to open an investigation as to whether the school did not react to the basis of the national origin (common Jewish ancestors) in a way that matched the requirements of the title “.

According to the December letting issued as part of the Biden Administration, a UC student claimed that representative of Jewish student organizations had reported the harassment, but the university's answer was “to tell people how to report discrimination and have increased police presence”. When this student reported it to different departments, she also received an answer from the university's ombudsman and said she declined because she didn't think she could help. ”

The letter also found that the university provided contradictory information and did not provide any guidelines for reporting on discrimination and harassment based on the national origin. ORC also found that the university presents further contradictory information in its guidelines, including definitions of harassment and for which each guideline applies.
