Video shows Boxmatch during the spring holidays at Fort Lauderdale Beach – NBC 6 Südflorida

Spring quantities in Fort Lauderdale are already beginning to become Rowdy.

Joshua Pettus recorded a video from People Boxing on the beach.

“Why don't you play football? Something that people will not hurt, ”said Pettus.

Pettus says he went to the beach at the beginning of the week and overheard something strange.

“I started hearing someone who took bets and they did it with crypto,” said Pettus.

He saw people who ran to the beach, and the guy who also bet as he ran, so he took out his cell phone and started taking up.

“Box gloves came out, the ring got bigger and I knew that the fight would begin,” said Pettus.

Pettus says the police appeared and the fight that could have been worse.

“It was very unsure,” said Pettus. “It is not greeted here because other people are on the beach and that can be really bad.”

In response to spring break, the city of Fort Lauderdale sent this explanation:

“The Fort Lauderdale police have observed and dissolved two incidents on the beach, and the crowd met two times without any further problems. No reported or confirmed betting cases were reported. This type of behavior is not tolerated.

Our police department is equipped with full strength on the beach on the beach to make it safe and pleasant for visitors and residents during this spring break. We encourage everyone who witness to call 911. “

On Friday evening, the non -profit organization The Robin Foundation, based in Davie, made sure that Spring Breakers remained safe.

“We felt that we had to do something,” said Chris Cavallo.

With the help of volunteers from Nova Southeastern University, the group went to Fort Lauderdale downtown to distribute Narcan. It is part of your campaign to combat the opioid crisis.

Cavallo says they have lost relatives in both overdoses. It has been distributing Narcan in the community since 2020.

“We will tell you what you are doing when you are safe and know that there are things you may not know in drugs that you consume, and if you or someone in your environment should overdose this medication,” said Cristina Cavallo.

Three years ago that were overdosed in a holiday home in Wilton Manors with fentanyl, overdosed with fentanyl. The police said the students were cadets of the US Military Academy in West Point. Officials later arrested the dealer who sold the drugs.

“You could see someone else and you can save his life,” said Cavallo.

They are pictures like this that Pettus hopes that he no longer has to testify.

“I'm not trying to prevent Spring Breakers from getting here because we want their business. We want them to come and have fun, but without violence,” said Pettus.

The Robin Foundation plans to go out in various areas of Fort Lauderdale every second weekend to distribute the Narcan cans during the spring holidays.

Fort Lauderdale's security measures are available until April 12th.

The following activities are prohibited in high trade in high -tilmats:

  • cooler
  • Tents, tables or similar structures
  • Live or reinforced music

Throughout the season there will also be an increased police presence along the beach and in other areas with high misconduct. You can expect:

  • Increased implementation of the above restrictions
  • Beach Sweep/Pleanup every day at 5:30 p.m.
  • Increased enforcement in entertainment areas from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
  • Beach enforcement from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In the meantime, Miami Beach also announced strict rules for the spring break, which include security and DUI control points, parking and road closures of $ 100.
