Video, transcript of the postgame press conference from UNC to Duke Game

Here is the video and a complete transcription of the press conference after the postgame with coach Hubert Davis and RJ Davis after the defeat of Tar Heels against Duke in the ACC tournament on Friday -semi -finals on Friday.

Q. Have you ever been part of a game in your four-year coaching career in which a trace was called?

Hubert Davis: I played here for four years, 12 years in the NBA, nine years as an assistant, and now four years as head coach, and I can no longer be proud of a team than I am. Just love these boys to death. I love your fight. I love your togetherness. I love how close they are.

As I said, I told you after the game, I didn't think I could be proud of a group than now, but I'm still proud.

I thank Jesus every day to become your head coach.

Q. And the shock clock injury?

Hubert Davis: I don't answer that. We lost 74-71.

Q. We saw how emotional Jae'lyn came off the pitch. What did you tell him after the game that he should raise the mood?

Hubert Davis: Well, it's all our mood because we are a team. These are not individuals. This is the basketball team of the University of North Carolina. If we win together – if we win, we will win together. If we lose, we lose together.

Q. Do you think you have done enough to get in, especially after you brought Team No. 1 to the wire?

RJ Davis: I think we have seen in the past few weeks that we are a tournament team. I think if you look at the trajectory of our entire season, how we have dealt with adversity, perseverance and especially in the past few weeks, we have overcome all of this. You could not ask yourself a better team that goes through this kind of adversity, passes through this kind of criticism and still holds through everything and still comes to the top. I think this is a tournament team for you there, because that's what March is about.

Q. Defensive it looked as if she got stops in the second half, which caused her to get some transitional options to switch on this deficit. What was defensive for you in the second half to remove this tour?

Hubert Davis: The competition battle. I had the feeling that in the first half of one of the things that I talk to the team all the time, I was competitive and to take part in their individual playing games. I felt like in the first half that they had the better one of us, whether it was in the circumference. In the second half I had the feeling that we were more physical. Our competition fight, we defended without a fouling, we got loose balls, we got rebounds, we fought shots, we made the second and third efforts. You are right, that made it possible for us to get stops, it made it possible for us to get out in the transition, and that was the first factor in which we could come back and surpassed in the second half at 6 p.m. It was all defense and rebound.

Q. What makes this rivalry unique in North Carolina in North Carolina in College Basketball?

RJ Davis: I think if you take up this jersey and compete against Duke, it is an opportunity to be part of the story. I was happy and grateful enough to play in many games that I will appreciate and remember for the rest of my life.

I just think that with this team and this year's group of boys, I think I will be at 20 in the first half and then fight back to the one and a half minutes. I don't think a rivalry gets better. It was a coarse -grained game, and I am only proud of the way we – not just against Duke, but this whole tournament all year round. We fought consistently and competed on an all -time level.

It has just happened that we randomly played Duke and were part of a rivalry.

Q. RJ, the last page outside of 2.9 seconds before the end, what did you find in the Huddle? You tried to get out of some screens there and you switched on. How did you develop everything?

RJ Davis: Yes, we let Seth remove the ball, and then they had their big husband with his size and length that Seth protected, and they switched 1 to 5.

Q. RJ was a six-point game in the first half and they ended a 15-0 run. In the second half, even though they didn't do many threes, Elliott was the only one who beat the threesome, all the way came back. What was different in the second half?

RJ Davis: As coach Davis said, our general competitive spirit was there and everyone contributed. We had four boys in two characters and many people made many games that made it possible for us to come back into play. It was a team performance. This is all you can ask if you try to steal into play again.

I am only proud of the way we – every time we got into the Haudiere, we said that we only have it through possessions. It was a 12-point game. Next it was a four-point game. So that's only a team basketball. So yes.

Q. Trainer, yesterday some of their players talked about yesterday that they might not expect or not that they would have won in November. How did this team react since the Clemson loss against a deficit by half today and how they may have reacted in the season when they had a little more struggling?

Hubert Davis: Well, I mean, at halftime we used to talk about examples in the season. Michigan State, Dayton, Kansas, where we were double -digit, 20 points and we were able to come back.

Unfortunately I said we have experience and experience with it – and happy that we have experience to be able to come back.

If you go into the second half of 20 minutes, so much can happen. So I break it up in four minutes. I said we win the first four minutes. Let us cut off this thing at 3 or 12 p.m. on the 12-minute brand. Eight-minute mark, let it cut to single-digit digits and four minutes are right there and it is a two-owned game. There were six points on the four -minute brand and I said people, looking at the score. I said is it a two-own game? You said yes. I said we are right there. I said we are building, we're getting stronger.

I think unfortunately or luckily we were able to find ourselves in this experience in the year and understand that there was a lot of basketball in the second half.

Q. Hubert, what can you say about what Ven did for you today, 20 points, 10 rebounds? I think the fourth double double in the last five games. He obviously helped you in the color.

Hubert Davis: Well, he did it. Not only his goals, his defense, his rebound, the ball alive and runs the ground. It has been consistent at a high level for some time. And to give that in the presence in addition to our ability to score from the outside, we really helped us aggressively.

I only thought, Ven's activity – Duke, even without Maliq and Cooper, they still have an enormous length, and so it was exactly what we needed to return to the game to do what he did about a long and sporty team.

Q. To build a little on it, this is the third time that you played Duke, but the first time that Cooper was not on the pitch. How much differently were the matchups than they expected, based on their past games against them, and did this wrench in the first half in relation to what they expected, compared to which reality was without him?

Hubert Davis: Well, Cooper, there is a very good chance that he will be a national player of the year. The effects that Maliq Brown on which he hit us two threes against us a week ago. As I said, Duke is Team No. 1 in the country because they are a team. It's not just one or two boys. They are a number of people who are really impressive and really good at both ends of the soil.

Even without these two, they had different lists, but the way they played at both ends of the soil was the same as they were the previous two times when we played them.

Q. So much of this sport is defined whether you do the NCAA tournament and what you do there. How do you see this part of your job when it comes to success or does not fall off it?

Hubert Davis: I don't look at it that way. I am on allocations. I know that Jesus set up and planned me and intended to be here. My job is to go with him. My job is to stay in it and serve these children and to give them everything I have every day.

It is a blessing and an honor to have these experiences with these children every day and for the rest of my life. That is even more than success. This is a blessing.

It is something that is with me for the rest of my life.

Q. Her team seemed to believe that they had done enough to get to the tournament. How will you spend these next few days to wait for the official word and do you think you've done enough to get into the tournament?

Hubert Davis: We go back home (giggle).

The best thing I was proud of this group is – and they are good questions about the NCAA tournament, and these are questions that have been asked over a month. So that our boys can concentrate on what is real, and that was the best team we could be to prepare, practice and play. If we play, our eyes keep our eyes on the competition directly in front of us and be the best we can be. And we basically played must-win games for a month and a half.

Our team played the best in this situation. This is pretty cool of a few children.

You want to talk about success or pride, I can go a number of different directions in this case.
