In these five weeks of the spring camp, Kyle Whittingham employees can integrate all newcomers into the culture of football in Utah.

Utah's defensive tackle position will be an observation this spring because the utes are trying to consolidate their central defenders. With just a few returnees, Utah hopes for young talents. This group plays a crucial role in the success of the defensive unit.

The undisputed leader Aliki Vimahi

Vimahi's presence as a leader will be invaluable for Utah's line of defense. His experience, his technology and his ability to look after younger players will be of crucial importance because he is the culture of defensive position in a T.

Vimahi is obviously commissioned to anchor the middle. He is a big body that played for the program in many football games. It must continue to offer this type of presence along the interior of the line for the defense unit.

However, his leadership and reliability is even more important. This spring, Vimahi must continue to specify the tone for the group and help to promote the development of the boys around him.

Dallas Vakalahi, Jonah Leaea, take the steps forward

Both Vakalahi and Leaea are able to play a larger role in 2025. Spring ball is crucial for the progress that both need to secure larger roles in autumn.

Vakalahi played surprisingly well as a newcomer last season. He played in nine games and a total of 16 duels, 2.5 for the loss and two bags. The 6-foot-2, 313 pounder has the skill level and the engine, which give it a large upward trend. This spring is about the continued refinement of his technology and his understanding of the game.

After Leea entered the program as an edge of 215 pound, he made the change to attack. Although he has already recorded almost 60 pounds, everything is still about his physical development in this off -season. Leaea is listed at £ 27 and probably 10-15 pounds more to optimize his potential at the Tackle this season. Regardless of this, he has enormous sportiness that could make him a disturbing force inside.

Can 'the other boys' appear?

Since Utah needs a depth in defensive duel, there are four more in the room that could possibly be created. In January, Utah welcomed two new new students with Karson Kaufusi and Sione Motuapuaka. In Jori Benson and Mike Taututeoli there are also two years of walk-on in the room.

Kaufusi and Motuapuka have the opportunity to make valuable contributions. Both real newcomers have fascinating size and skills, and their development this spring could be a big boost for the line of defense. Kaufusi is larger at 6-foot 6 and 286 pounds, while Motuapuka is smaller at 5-foot 11 and 270 pounds, but plays hardness and lever. Utah would like to see that at least one of these players appears in spring.

Benson will enter his third season with the program, while Taututeoli entered his second. Both seem to have the required size for the job at Benson with 6-foot 4, 290 pounds and Tauteoli at 6-foot 4, 297 pounds. It is more than size than size, but if these two can play at a level that coaches with them make them convenient as depth, this would be important for the depth.

Key to the defensive tackle room

The defensive Tackle position will be decisive in the definition of Utah's defense strength in 2025. If Vimahi can effectively lead, Vakalahi and Leaea can take steps forward as players, and others as options that will be a big boost for this room.

Luther Elliss has to pull out a lot of development from this group. So much that there may be no more important coaching task than the one he has in front of him this spring.
