UC Irvine beats Cal Poly 96-78 in the Big West Conference tournament semi-final

Henderson, nev. (Ap) Bent Leuchten had 21 points on Friday at the Big West Conference tournament with the 96-78 victory of UC Irvine against Cal Poly.

UC Irvine, the No. 2 seeds of the tournament, will compete in the championship game on Saturday with the top seed UC San Diego.

Luminaires added 10 rebounds for the leaders (28-5). Devin Tillis scored 17 points, while he went 7 out of 10, and added eight rebounds and six assists. Justin Hohn shot 5 for 9 (2 for 6 from the 3-point area) and 3 out of 3 from the free-wire line up to 15 points.

Mac Riniker ended with 22 points and six rebounds for the Mustangs (16-19). Cal Poly also got 15 points from Jarred Hyder. Peter Bandelj ended with 11 points and five templates.

Luminaires scored nine points in the first half and UC Irvine went 39: 38 in the half. UC Irvine used a 10-0 run in the second half to build a 21-point lead at 93: 72 with 2:44 before winning the victory.
