iPhone 17 Ultra, only to replace Pro Max in a new leak

If you should believe rumors, the start of the iPhone 17 will have had some of the biggest changes to Apple's smartphones for years.

On the Korean blogging platform NAVER, the regular delicious Yeux1122 shared a large contribution about the iPhone Pro Max, which may be replaced by the more high-end-iPhone 17 Ultra.

An iPhone Ultra is not a new rumor, although it is for the iPhone 17 series. Before the start of iPhone 16 last September, a number of rumors circulated that Apple had a super premium iPhone in the works that sits above the Pro Max. Unfortunately it shouldn't be.

Yeux1122 speculates that thanks to the introduction of the new e-lineup with the iPhone 16E, Apple tries to rename its main line-up.

This rebranding would include killing the plus in favor of the much rumored iPhone 17 air and the replacement of the Pro Max for the Ultra. They also claim that the air will have a different name than the iPhone 17 air, although this name has not been provided.

This is how the list in autumn could look:

iPhone 17
iPhone 17 air
iPhone 17 Pro
iPhone 17 Ultra

This is the first time that we mentioned an ultra model in this cycle, with most rumors holding on Pro Max Branding. Even Renderings and Dummy models that gave us the first look at the line -up are still the iPhone 17 Pro max.

We take this piece with a spoon of salt.

When the ultra comes, Yeux1122 also claims that the high-end model has several exclusive functions on the other iPhone 17 cell phones.

It was recently rumored that the iPhone 17 Pro Max would be Dicker than the iPhone 16 Pro Max to hold a larger battery.

Yeux1122 seems to believe that this larger battery actually runs into the ultra variant. How much larger was not given.

According to suppliers of the supply chain and parts of suppliers, Yeux1122 says, the Ultra will receive a smaller dynamic island. Apparently there were not enough parts ordered to deliver other models.

“Component supply orders indicate that there are not enough parts to extend this function to the pro model,” they wrote (translated).

Apparently the Ultra model receives a cooling system that the other phones does not contain. The Pro models were only dumped digitally by delicious instant to receive this system.

The phone could last longer because it can stay cool for longer.

A completely new iPhone

According to the report, Apple wants the entire list to differ from the existing iPhone 16 series and the new E series, which will be apparently for a year.

“Apple tries a new change in marketing and sales by making a large design change in the existing iPhone and the change from iOS 19,” they wrote.

They also said that the foldable iPhone 2026 is expected and that Apple is organized forward with branding before this phone becomes part of the list.

Assuming Apple adheres to the usual schedule, we should see that the Ultra arrive in September with the remaining iPhone 17 models.
