Petrol leaks in the Allegheny River, Dep, who is looking for source in O'Hara Township – Wpxi

O'Hara Township, Pennsylvania – rescue workers were called to O'Hara Township on Friday to examine a strong smell of petrol. Some who work in the area say they noticed the smell on Thursday.

Jessica Fraser said: “I didn't leave any work last night. I had driven to my car, it was about 6:30 a.m. and I thought it was just a normal one – someone cut grass or something like a machine and it was obviously not. “

According to the Department of Environmental Protection, the Blawnox fire brigade reported that petrol came into the storm waters that broke into the Allegheny River. Fraser says it is worrying.

Fraser said: “A bit in view of the fact that there are houses and everything and all shops and everything. It could influence the water supply and that would switch everyone. “

Pittsburgh Water confirms that the spill had no influence on drinking water.

“The operators of the water treatment plant in Pittsburgh have actively monitored the river conditions and the intake valves along the river all day. The spill had no influence on water quality or safety, and we were able to maintain routine water operation. Pittsburgh Water customers can have any trust in the quality and safety of their drinking water. “

The DEP is working on confirming the source of the leak, but they absorb a possible leaky underground warehouse tank at the petrol station. Until it can be tested, the DEP ordered the underground warehouse tank.

During the spill on Friday, the DEP currently has no estimate of how much petrol was released into the river.

The DEP monitors the containment and adjustment of the gasoline, and the Blawnox fire brigade keeps booms in the flow until the cleanup arrives.
