Greg Saney from SEC expects record 14 NCAA tournament companies for “Unicorn League”

The SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said on Friday that this weekend he would expect up to 14 teams to his conference to be the NCAA men's basketball tournament for men's basketball tournaments.

Sankey said with Pete Thamel von Espn and said: “It is currently a Unicorn league. We won't change our names, but we are historically alone. And I think that is rewarded.”

While conference tournaments have to be ready on Saturday and Sunday, the latest projections from ESPN Bracketology, Joe Lunardis, have 13 SEC teams in the NCAA tournament area.

A 14th SEC team, Texas, is currently one of the first four teams from Lunardi.

The record for most teams of a single conference, which is to be selected for the NCAA tournament, is in 2011 from Big East 11.

It is anything but certain that the SEC will break this record this year regardless of Texas' fate, but when the longhorns start, the Sec will break it.

In addition to the quantity, the SEC will also send a lot of quality to the NCAA tournament field.

Auburn, Florida and Alabama are all top 5 teams in the top 25 survey by Associated Press, while Tennessee No. 8, Texas A & M No. 14 and Kentucky No. 15 is.

Of the 16 SEC teams, 14 of them have at least 19 wins this season, and only LSU and South Carolina have lost records.

Overall, the SEC dominated other conferences this season and published a percentage profit of 0.889 non-conferences. The most impressive is the SEC 30-4 against the ACC, 14-2 against BIG 12 and 10-9 against the big ten.

Saney also emphasized the importance of quad 1 victory, of which the longhorns have seven this season, while North Carolina has only one.

Lunardi has North Carolina as his first team from the NCAA tournament who currently has a place before Texas.

No. 1 Auburn meets No. 4 Tennessee and No. 2 Florida will compete against No. 3 in the semi -finals of the SEC tournament No. 3 on Saturday, and the winners will meet in the final on Sunday.

Then, on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET, the SEC and all other teams will learn their NCAA tournament fate in the entire college basketball when the bracket is unveiled as part of the selection Sunday.
